This qualification may be used as a pathway for workforce entry as community services workers who provide a first point of contact and assist individuals in meeting their immediate needs. At this level, work takes place under direct, regular supervision within clearly defined guidelines.
This qualification must be delivered across two years and is aimed at Year 11 and 12 students.
Work placement is compulsory in a health or community services environment and a minimum of 65 hours is required EXCEPT where child care electives may be chosen with permission of the Centre Director of the Registered Child Care Centre where the student is undergoing work placement and 120 hours work placement is required for these. (Note: Not all Centres will approve students to study Child Care Electives at Cert II level- a letter of acceptance from the Centre Director prior to enrolment).
Also note that any FSK units MUST be integrated into vocational units and cannot be offered as stand-alone units.
This course requires 4 hours per week to complete across two years deepening upon the selection of electives.

Electives – 4 elective units, consisting of at least 2 units from the electives listed below; up to 2 units from the electives listed below, any endorsed Training Packages or accredited courses – these units must be relevant to the work outcome. All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome e.g. community services worker.
